My Amazing Little Superstar

Yes, I call her my superstar! Figuratively and literally, Abrielle likes to be called a star! She is fascinated with the universe. She calls her daddy the sun while I am called the moon. And she's our star, the brightest one! My daughter loves to talk about the solar system. She knows facts about the eight planets. This evening, while watching an old episode of Baby Einstein where it mentioned the "9 planets," she quipped "Mommy the show said 9 planets?" I had to explain perhaps the show was made during the time when NASA still recognized Pluto as the 9th planet. She was quick to respond, "Pluto is now a dwarf planet, Mommy." 

I'm so proud of her! Not every three year old appreciates the solar system let alone talk about why "humans live on earth!"

Abriellle loves Reading Dr, Seuss

It is amazing how fast Abrielle learned how to read. Her word recognition skill is now more developed. When she turned two, she enjoyed reading words on flash cards. Her expressive language skills have also improved. My colleague who is a speech pathologist noted that her language acquisition is advanced. When I noticed that she has interest for reading books, I began exposing her to different literature that have pictures and rhyming words. When I showed her a bunch of dr. Seuss' books, she immediately asked me to read aloud to her. Afterwards, she asked to read on her own. We usually play "my turn-your turn" roles.  I am  attaching a video of her reading one of the books that she loved!

Abrielle at Two and a Half Years

Time really flies. My little girl is now thirty months or should I say two and a half years old. She is becoming more verbally expressive. She talks in complete sentences. The advantage of having a developed language at a very early age is that she's able to convey her wants and needs. She is becoming more assertive and tries hard very hard to turn a simple "No" into a "Yes."  She is very independent. And  I'm so proud that she is very cooperative with potty training. She dislikes being helped to. Would you believe that her favorite line is "I wanna do it by myself.." I am so proud of the  many developmental milestones that she's achieved at an advanced rate. I know that babies learn differently and their learning rate is so varied.  But teaching a child and encouraging her/him to have the love for learning makes a huge difference. I say this not just as a parent but as an educator. As a parent, I try to give Abrielle the right exposure. I give her the freedom to explore her environment. We talk a lot. She asks me about anything under the sun. She asks with so much innocence and curiosity i.e."What is that sound? What's that noise? What's that mommy? Etc. etc." Those little conversations somewhat allow her to have a grasp of things around her. I look forward to such precious  moments that I am able to spend quality time with her wherein at the same time she experiences play-based learning.

My daughter Abrielle is now 2 years and 5 months. She is getting more advanced with her language acquisition skills. She is very good with word recognition and has a vocabulary of more than 100 words. It may be more. I must say that she learns very fast. She likes to learn and experience new things. I also notice that singing cones naturally for her as well. I'd like share this video of her singing 23 different nursery rhymes from her favorite book "Sing with Me My favorite  Kids' Songs."

Abrielle has turned 24 months last September 24! She had a celebration at Kingdom Kids Day Care in the company of her amazing teachers and classmates. We decided to hold one party at school and at home. We invited a few of our friends over to the house to celebrate her 2nd Year. She loved her birthday cakes. We opted to have 2 cakes featuring two of her favorite characters, Barney and Dora!

Abrielle turned 27 months! Since she turned two, she's been more active and eager to learn new things. Her vocabulary and expressive language skills have greatly improved. She articulates her wants and needs with the use of sentences. Since, she's able to state her preferences, her morning routine is quite a challenge especially when I'm getting her ready for Day Care. She's very particular with whst she wears. She would say "I want my purple shirt" or "I dont what that." She talks really fast though. It amazes me how fast she grasp new information. She is more receptive to educational toys and videos. I introduce her to some shows like Pocoyo or Peppa Pig but she was not interested. She still loves Barney and Nother Goose Club!

23-month-old Baby Singing

My baby generally loves singing and music in general. She can sing along with most nursery rhymes. Now, at 23 months, she prefers to sing by herself. She sings without being prompted. Here is a video of her singing "Twinkle Twinkle Star.
